Recognized for its celebration of the food system, the festival invites attendees to connect with local farmers and chefs, savor flavorful seasonal dishes, stay informed about current food trends, and contribute to the community.

Chefs and local food growers will take to East Austin in April to showcase what the regional food ecosystem offers.

This walk-and-taste experience is one of a growing category of similar events, but it sets itself apart with a unique concept: pairing chefs and food producers to create micro-dishes that are as illuminating of our food system as they are tasty. Perhaps because this festival is still in its relative infancy, it's much more laid-back than others. Chefs and farmers are eager to chat with guests, and that's the driving idea.

A "food systems festival," the inaugural Field Guide Festival (Oct. 29-30) explores the connections between farmers, chefs, activists, and everyone in between.

The inaugural two-day event takes a deep dive into Austin’s food scene

Field Guide is pairing more than a dozen Central Texas farms with 18 area chefs to create dishes at the fest, which will include a dinner helmed by female chefs, farmers and beverage makers; a daylong tasting event; and a brunch. The chefs and farmers will present dishes in tandem, allowing ticket holders to get a full sense of each dish’s provenance.
