Benefitting Central Texas Food Bank

Ling Wu

Ling Wu The Grove

Ling came from Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. Her grandmother brought her up, and such childhood forged her into a simple, down-to-earth, value-bound country girl. Reminiscing her grandmother’s home cooking ignited her intense interest in the art of Chinese cuisine, and she decided to delve into the world of the food service industry.

For many years, she has honed her skills in New York City and Chinatown Restaurant in Austin, Texas. Austin’s famous, laid-back, nature-loving lifestyle made her stay in this world-class city to further her interests and career here in Austin. The well-known dim sum chef William Wong became her master in the art of Dim Sum making and deepened her repertoire of culinary skills.

Besides kitchen fairs, Ling is also deeply involved in cultivating and farming. Traveling is also her favorite activity when leisure time comes. Farming requires patience and detail; traveling broadened her mind and palettes of different parts of the world. The seed of combining the East and the West cuisines grew in her mind. Chinese traditional cooking can be done in Western style and is more readily accepted and appreciated by the younger generation. She particularly enjoys Barley Swine’s organic, healthy, and probiotic style and ideas.

Her goal is to join the culinary arts and live healthy lives together, and better health can be achieved by not just consuming but also appreciating the art of Chinese cuisine.
