About Urban Roots:

The only farm-based youth leadership organization in Austin, TX, Urban Roots has been growing with youth leaders for 15 years. Urban Roots envisions a thriving food system cultivated by youth and community that is sustainable, equitable, and just. To achieve that vision, Urban Roots works with youth leaders to grow fresh food and build a community dedicated to achieving food equity. Youth, staff and volunteers grow fresh produce on UR’s two farms in East and South Austin and work with partners and community leaders to directly address food access for their neighbors throughout the year.

Where to find Urban Roots:

Urban Roots distributes over 20,000 pounds of food annually through our Hojas and bulk distribution programs. These programs work with community leaders and Food Access partners in the Austin area to improve access to healthy produce.
