Benefitting Central Texas Food Bank

Germaine Swenson & Ivan Matula

Munkebo Farm

Ivan and Germaine purchased Munkebo in 2000 and in 2009 decided to make it a working form. Ivan was raised on a farm in Pennsylvania and Germaine always wanted to farm since she was in elementary school.

They raise cattle, swine and produce, including fruits. They also make value added products, which include frozen, take home and bake pies, sauerkraut, pickled beets, pickles and pickled okra.

Ivan and Germaine take a holistic approach to farming and use no insecticides or herbicides. Their favorite approach to farming is based on Permaculture methods with the goal to have a close loop system with zero inputs from outside sources.

Where to find Munkebo Farm:

We can be found at three farmer’s markets, SFC Downtown, TFM Mueller and TFM Bell. We hopefully by the time of this festival will have our farm store open for selling our meats, produce, and value added products like frozen ready to take home and bake pies. We will also have fermented goods, pickled goods and soap. We are located in eastern Travis County on Blake Manor Road.
