Peter Klein
Peter Klein was born and raised in North Jersey, where his Jewish and Italian roots informed his earliest food memories. After studying at the University of Vermont, Klein pursued cooking professionally in New York. He spent 5 years working in kitchens ranging from fast-casual to fine dining, all with a shared focus on intentional, ingredient-driven cooking.
Klein moved to Austin in 2015, where he began cooking at lauded Southern restaurant Olamaie. After piloting the Austin Film Society Cinema’s food program, Klein went on to open Carpenter’s Hall as a sous chef. A pandemic later, he found himself leading the kitchen at L’Oca D’oro, where he was immersed in Fiore Tedesco’s hyper-seasonal Italian cuisine. He is now the head chef at Holiday, a cocktail bar and restaurant on East 7th Street serving handmade pastas and other thoughtful, fresh fare alongside Erin Ashford’s award-winning bar program.
