Originally from Bixby, Oklahoma, chef Rhys was raised on country cooking, many hours were spent beside the women in his family in the kitchen, mostly with his grandmother Betty. Casserole’s, large braises, potatoes, okra, and all the fixins. Chef Rhys has a classically trained French upbringing, but set his sights on East & Southeast Asian cuisine for many years. Becoming the CDC at Maie Day is a return to those country roots, to reconnect with nostalgia and the food from his childhood.
